The Department “M” of the RF FSS carries out operative activities in relation to private detectives and specialists on gathering information. In recent months there was arrested the whole group of representatives of the market of security services. All of them are accused of violation of privacy, and also other articles of the RF Criminal Code, as Rosbalt reports.
The publication notes that the competence of the Department “M” of the RF FSS, among others, includes counter-intelligence support to the RF MIA activities. Most of the taken to the FSS people are either former police officers, or have access to information resources of the RF MIA or other departments due to their connections.
Not only specialists on information were taken under the “hoot” of the FSS, but also private detectives. Since spring in relation to them the counterintelligence operations have also been conducting. And sometimes seemingly, their professional activities are considered as the guilt of the detectives. For example, shadowing unfaithful wives or husbands…
“The existing legislative acts, regulating the activities of private detectives, are absolutely “green”, - told the lawyer Vladimir Zherebenkov to “Rosbalt”. – Only in Russian films and serials private detective work as operatives do. In reality, they almost have no authority. Now legislators are trying to increase and strengthen the scope of authority of detectives, protect their legal and social status. But in my opinion, the employees of the RF FSS don’t like it so much, which actually made a real hunt for private detectives”.
One of the former employees of the RF MIA, who has asked not to reveal his name, agrees with this point of view: “The RF FSS began to suppress any attempts to encroach on its monopoly right to know everything about everyone. Private investigators now are trying to be turned into a sort of “pirates”, who work in circumvention of the law, and if to increase their powers, they will begin to create “chaos”. However, there are also those, who approve such actions of counterspies.
