"We need to think about expanding the practice of drug testing," - said Yarovaya on Tuesday as part of the parliamentary hearings "On legislation improvement in ensuring public security in Russia and control of illicit spread of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances."
She drew attention to the fact that the dynamics of drug addiction expansion and drug related crimes shows that the state and the society take insufficient action in preventing this vice. "We must make impossible even the slightest mistakes in granting special rights and admissions. Perhaps it would be right to make drug testing mandatory for those who deal with arms at work – Police officers, soldiers, Private Guard Company employees and so on" - believes the Committee head. This group, she said, may include the air traffic controllers, pilots, miners, drivers who are engaged in commercial transportation. She also believes that such testing should be taken by everybody who obtains driving license.
