Futsal tournament in memory of the hero of Russia Eugenie Shitnikov

Traditional futsal tournament in memory of Hero of Russia Eugenie Shnitnikov was held on April 12th, 2012, within the campaign «Week of courage» in the sports complex «Dynamo».

Authorized operations officer of a special rapid reaction unit of the regional department for organized crime prevention at the Department of Internal in Nizhegorodski Region, police captain Shnitnikov Eugenie Petrovich took part as a member of special rapid reaction unit of Nizhniy Novgorod in protection of the Department for Organized Crime Control building at the MIA of Chechnya on August 6th, 1996.

After the armored vehicle that he was steering was hit, the gun layer was injured. On replacing him, Shnitnikov E.P. kept the soldiers step-back by the gun fire and killed two snipers, a rocket launcher and four gunners of the enemy.

In this battle, Eugenie Petrovich was injured twice and was carried into the Department for Organized Crime Control building by the soldiers of special rapid reaction unit. Unfortunately, he died. The soldiers of special rapid reaction unit held out in the building for three weeks and then broke out of encirclement.

Shnitnikov E.P. was buried in on the Old Avtozavadskiy cemetery in Nizhny Novgorod. The title of Hero of the Russian Federation was awarded to Eugenie Petrovich Shnitnikov posthumously on December 18th, 1997.

The futsal Tournament in memory of Shnitnikov E.P. was organized with the support of the Association of guard and legal companies «Berkut».

The tournament was opened by Kazakov A.N., the chairman of Nizhny Novgorod regional social organization of veterans of combat operations of the internal affairs bodies and internal troops of the Russian Federation. In particular, he said: «The police captain Eugenie Shnitnikov makes a striking example of honor and valor in serving his Motherland. In his memory this tournament is held. The sport event which we hold today will be an example of respect in memory of a killed fellow-soldier, the demonstration of professional solidarity in being ready to resist terrorism and crime in all its forms and, what is important, will contribute to strengthening of friendly relations between the participants of the tournament».

In his speech, the representative of the Association of guard and legal companies «Berkut», the CEO of the Training Center «Berkut-Cadet» Sidorenko A.V. wished the tournament participants a successful performance and high sport achievements.

Vera Petrovna Marikova, Eugenie Shnitnikov’s sister, came to thank the participants of the competition. «Thank you all very much for the support that you have been giving to our family for all these years. There is no better memory than the memory of the fellow soldiers», said Vera Petrovna.

The winners of international and Russian festivals of barrack song, the «Soldati fortuni» band performed for the participants of the tournament and the guests while the members of the military-patriotic children club «Bagram» demonstrated their skills in hand-to-hand fighting.

The teams of different services and departments of the MIA of Russia in Nizhegorodski region and in Nizhny Novgorod took part in the competition as well as did the team of the Regional public organization «Veterans of the Chechen conflict» and the team of the Association of guard and legal companies «Berkut».

In general, according to organizers, the game turned out very emotional and vivid. The winning team - the Association of guard and legal companies «Berkut» was awarded with the Cup of friendly match.
